Global MD for BSI Inspectorate

PRESS RELEASE

16 June 2004

BSI Group has promoted Chris Fenton to the new post of managing director for BSI Inspectorate (Global), a leading global inspection and laboratory analysis company. Chris moves up from the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) managing director to drive its strategic objectives for creating rapid and consistent delivery capability across the entire business and a responsive and flexible service to customers.

Stevan Breeze, the Chief Executive of BSI, says: "International trading of commodities is a global dynamic market, which requires a management structure and service platform that takes an holistic approach.

"I am very pleased that we now have a single managing director. With Chris we can build on that single management structure and expand our capability in the testing and inspection market, most recently illustrated by the acquisition of the Dutch inspection company, NOIS."

Chris Fenton adds: "Until now the BSI Inspectorate business has operated as two separate divisions within the Group. The personnel and organisational changes bring further cohesion to recognising the different needs of our customer base. We must focus on delivering in high organic growth areas such as Asia and the Caspian and seek out further opportunities to bolster the European and American networks."

Chris will take responsibility for the global businesses with effect from 1st July 2004.
